Season 2018 Junior Program

By | Fashion | No Comments

From season 2018 we will be implementing the St George Junior Football Development Curriculum for all junior teams as prepared by Football Federation Australia.

The Curriculum is a practical guide for coaches and players of every age, gender or level as well as their parents. The National Football Curriculum intends to deliver an Australian playing and coaching philosophy based on analysis of top football and scientific research, taking the specific circumstances and characteristics of Australian football into consideration. So, it is not someone’s opinion or a copy of another country’s curriculum. It is aimed at a fundamental transformation of the way football is played and coached in Australia, especially at youth level, in order to develop future generations of players and teams that will enable Australia to maintain a leading position in world football, particularly within the Asian Football Confederation.

All coaches who are involved at the club will be hold at a minimum a Skills Training certificate from Football Queensland. The junior teams will be overseen by Paul Dunwell as Junior Development Coordinator. Community Pathway courses are specifically designed for the coaches who look after Participation players: the courses are short, easily-accessible and low-cost. Because of the nature of the coach and the player in the Community context, these courses focus almost exclusively on the ‘Training’ pillar of the Coaching Expertise Model.

Coaching Course Overview

A Skills Training Certificate course will be run on 24 February 2018 at Slacks Creed FC, Usher Park, Daisy Hill. If you are interested in coaching a team this year, you can get in contact with Paul to find out further details on vacancies and opportunities for involvement.
